Tips and Tricks for Mastering HS Battlegrounds
Identify useful information
Player information
By passing the mouse over an opponent, you will be entitled to a complete list of information concerning him. It can be useful to find out about the players you are up against.
In this small sheet, a lot of information is available. You can see at the top left the level of the tavern, just on the right the number of higher rank minions, and at the very top right the number of battles won since the last defeat. Below, we can see the results of the last battles fought, with the number of damage points inflicted or received. When the damage is to the left of the sword, it is the damage received. When they are on the right, then they are the ones inflicted.
To be one step ahead
In Hearthstone Battlegrounds, it is possible to know in advance who your next opponent will be. For that, rely on the ranking bar on the left of your screen. In addition to showing you in real time the position of each player in the game, the next player against whom you will fight is shifted to the right and highlighted.
This allows you to find out about him by taking a look at his information (see above). Thanks to this, you will never be caught off guard between two battle phases.
All about servants
Choose your servants
While it's important to have a good synergy between your different minions, it's also important to choose them well. From the first round, you will be faced with a choice among 3 different minions. It is important to choose well from the first turn, in order to save life points, but also to gain the upper hand for the future. Always favor a minion with enough hit points, or a minion capable of duplicating himself.
The more the game progresses, the less you will have to have the mood to throw away useless creatures. It is not necessary to use too many resources on your first minions, since they will eventually be discarded. As soon as your tavern reaches level 3, you need to know which composition you are going to play. Thanks to this, you can focus on the most important minions to collect.
Know the strengths of the servants
Throughout the game, your composition will evolve. However, certain minions are to be preferred, whatever the state of your land. This is particularly the case of the Awful amalgamation
, present in all compositions of the moment for its versatility. Likewise, area effects are often appreciated, especially in the late game. When the Meca composition teams up with a Reaper 4000
, the Beasts composition prefers the cave hydra
. Likewise, Toxicity is a very important late-game mechanic. To that, nothing of mine but to add Maexna
in your ranks.
Place your servants well
As in all auto battlers, placing your units is an important step in strategy. In Hearthstone Battlegrounds, you can only move your minions to the right or left. So it's important to remember that all Hearthstone keywords work. Thus, a minion with Taunt will always be the first target of enemy minions. It is in this perspective that you must place each of your minions, while taking into account that the minions attack from left to right.
The leftmost minions must therefore be those with specific effects. Whether it's Toxicity or an area effect, they'll have to be the first to strike. Most of the compositions using divine shields, this can prove fatal for you at times. If so, then place the weakest unit to the left so that it gets rid of the shield for your other minions.
Increase the rank of a minion
If you gather the same minion 3 times, they will merge to create a golden copy of this minion (see the Awful amalgamation in the screenshot above). When fused, they keep the bonuses each copy received, while doubling its base stats. For example, a Kangou-bot
having received the boost of a Replicating threat
is a creature with 4 attack points for 2 life. Once upgraded to a higher rank, it will become a 5 attack for 3 life minion.
When a minion gains a rank, it allows you to obtain a special card discovering a minion one rank higher than your tavern when it is placed. So, if your Tavern is at level 3, and you place a higher rank minion, you discover a 4 star minion. This mechanic can be very useful, especially in the late game, if leveling up your tavern isn't necessary.
