In recent years, install a mod on Minecraft has become much simpler thanks to Forge. There is no more need to go into the game files and open archives!

Choosing your Forge mod for Minecraft
This is a short but important section. You can not insert the amount of the mod for any version of Minecraft. You must check several information before downloading and then installing:
- Your mod, for this tutorial, must be a Forge mod. If it is indicated with "Fabric" without any mention of forge, it is not compatible.
- The version of the mod must be that of your version of Minecraft (Example: 1.16.4 or 1.15)
- Do not click on any site or link to search for mods. Stick to relatively secure platforms, like planetminecraft or curseforge.
After installation, Minecraft or Forge may crash. If it's Forge not loading, check that in addition to the Minecraft version, the Forge version of your mod is the correct one. For example, a mod with Forge version 32.0.0.10 will not be compatible with a Minecraft with Forge 32.0.0.9 installed.
If it's minecraft, read the logs carefully given by the game. These will tell you which mod the game failed to load from. If you can't determine the culprit, remove all your mods one to one until you find the one that doesn't want to work. It may be either unstable or incompatible with another of your mods.
Install your Minecraft mod with Forge
It could not be easier ! On the Main Menu of Minecraft with Forge installed, click on the "Mods" button. Then choose the option " Open Mods folder“. A window will open, to an empty file if this is your first time.
Drag your mods into it, ending with « .zip » or « .jar ». Then, restart Minecraft. If all goes well, the number of mods on the main menu will be different! New details and an indicator to spot the different updates will also be present in the "Mods" menu of Forge.
