Numbering 95 across the game, Merlin's Trials are prominent in Hogwarts Legacy. They increase the number of equipment slots. All of them require sweet mallow to be activated, as well as certain spells to defeat them. Merlin's Trials of Hogsmeade Valley are no exception to this rule, requiring different spells.
Hogsmeade Valley Merlin Trials List and Location
Sweet Mallow can be obtained from the Magic Turnip vendor in Hogsmeade. The latter also sells seeds to grow yourself. Merlin's Trials are visible on the map when passing by, making them easy to spot.

Once the event is activated, light the braziers with Confringo within a given time.

Once the trial is activated, use Revelio to highlight the pillars to destroy with Confringo.

Once the challenge is activated, climb further up the hill to find a round rock. Use Repulso or Confringo on it in the direction of the slope so that it reaches its receptacle.

Once the event is activated, burn the vines near the castle before clearing the gate with Accio. Use Lumos to attract a swarm of butterflies and place them on the appropriate pedestals near the starting point. Do the same with the other two swarms of butterflies.

Once the test is activated, go east to clear a camp of poachers and find a swarm of butterflies. Use Lumos to attract them and continue the path until you destroy a barricade where there is a wolf. A second group of butterflies join you using Lumos, then turn right to climb ledges and find the last swarm. Bring them back to the starting point, on the appropriate pedestal in order to complete the event.
