As it was just unveiled during BlizzCon 2019 (see our guide to all times and dates), we are discussing here the question of the Overwatch 2 release date. The Overwatch sequel will therefore be one Blizzard's big plans for the coming year, with the development of Shadowlands and Diablo 4.
Update : On June 12 at 19:30 p.m., Blizzard has just officially announced a release date for Overwatch 2. The FPS will be available for free on PC and consoles on October 4, 2022.

OW 2 available on which platforms?
Jeff Kaplan wanted to announce on which platforms Overwatch 2 will be available upon its release. Thus, the Overwatch sequel will be available on PC (via Battle.net), PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
A release date for Overwatch 2?
The development of Overwatch 2 continues to suffer from many problems with in particular changes of managers. Thus, after being mentioned at the beginning of 2022, it would seem that the release date of the next OW 2 will not be before the second half of next year at least. Indeed, the Activision-Blizzard quarterly report (in English) communicated on a delayed release date for Overwatch 2. It is therefore possible that the game will not be released before the end of 2022.
While the next season of the Overwatch League was to be played on Overwatch 2, this new delay in the game's development could also put a damper on the plans for the esports league.
For the moment, we consider that Overwatch 2 should be released around the start of the 2022 school year, and not around April-May as previously anticipated.
